RESUMEN

Se presenta el segundo artículo contemplado en la antología Bicentenario, que en esta edición, se enfoca en la concepción y construcción del Barrio Cívico de Santiago. El autor, la arquitecto Beatriz Aguirre, realiza una revisión a las ideas centrales en torno al Barrio Cívico. Se distingue, como dos proyectos diferentes, el referido a los edificios de gobierno; y el barrio cívico como área homogénea y armónica integrada vialmente a la ciudad. Se da cuenta de la trayectoria entre proyecto y realización del barrio en distintas etapas, asociadas estas a diversos mecanismos de financiamiento.

ABSTRACT

The study is about the architectural symbolism successively configured and reconfigured, in the Civic district of Santiago de Chile, in three historical moments. The conceptual term, is based on Harry Pross conception of the symbolic structure of the power and the exercise of the symbolic violence. Through a hermeneutic proceed, is developed a syntactic analysis of urban and architectural images constituted, looking for unveil the construction of the significance devices. It is included, as anthology, two texts on the historical development of the Civic district.
