RESUMEN
Este documento de trabajo propone establecer las bases para crear el museo para la ciudad de Chillán. El autor de esta tesina, plantea un modo de clasificar el carácter patrimonial del trazado y elementos arquitectónicos de la ciudad.  Se postula la hipótesis de estructurar su historia, a través del concepto de “edades”, el cual no responde necesariamente a un orden cronológico – lineal.
El texto realiza una revisión histórica de la evolución de la ciudad y sus sucesivas refundaciones. Se documenta de planos, imágenes y opiniones para dar cuenta de sus momentos y edificaciones relevantes. Se investiga, especialmente su acontecer entre 1835 – 1935 y su período posterior. Se estudia tanto la huella urbana, producto de sus fundaciones, como los edificios relevantes que aluden a épocas y estilos presentes en la ciudad.
Se pretende, a través de esta clasificación, poner en valor la trama urbana de la ciudad como elemento vinculante de sus procesos urbanos.

ABSTRACT
This text intends to establish the bases to create the museum for the city of Chillán. The author of this work outlines a way of classifying the patrimonial character of the layout and architectural elements of the city.  The hypothesis of structuring its history is postulated, through the concept of "ages", which doesn't necessarily respond to a lineal-chronological order.

The text carries out a historical revision of the evolution of the city and its successive re foundations; it is documented of plans, images and opinions to give bill of their moments and outstanding constructions. It is investigated, especially among 1835-1935 and their later period. It is studied the urban print, product of their foundations, as the outstanding buildings that mention times and present styles in the city.

It is sought, through this classification, to put in value the urban plot of the city like linking element of their urban processes.
