RESUMEN

El presente artículo explora el aporte de la sociología de Emile Durkheim a los estudios de la ciudad. La perspectiva durkheimiana otorga a los objetos de la ciudad la cualidad de hechos sociales materiales, y obliga un necesario cuestionamiento sobre la formas de solidaridad que las relaciones entre estos objetos implican. Por otra parte, el esbozo de la ciudad como un fenómeno de agregaciones colabora con la comprensión de las dinámicas normativas que la ciudad evoca desde su materialidad.

ABSTRACT

This paper deals with the contribution of Emile Durkheim to the studying of the cities. Mainly, it focuses on Durkheim's ideas that define to the city and its characteristics as social facts, whose efect more visible is the creation of social solidarity. This perspective permits to identify those critical processes that are involved in the production of solidarity, principally those that are linked to the social integration. In addition, the paper establishes that a definition of the city and its elements, from a sociological perspective, permits tounderstand the city as a phenomenon whose main characteristicis the emergency of normative dynamics that organize the relationships between its elements.
