El presente proyecto pretende pasar desde una tematización formulada en el campo de la historia de la arquitectura, a otra constituida en el campo de la teoría de la arquitectura. La investigación busca establecer los lineamientos generales de un programa explorativo de crítica arquitectónica, derivado a partir de un ejercicio de análisis de los significados que habitan, como representación social, en una determinada obra arquitectónica, considerada para estos efectos como caso de estudio.

En la tematización histórica, se trata de examinar el caso de la arquitectura y urbanística habitacional desarrollada por la Corporación de Mejoramiento Urbano, CORMU, en la ciudad de Santiago entre 1966 y 1976. Se asume para ello una perspectiva que busca develar significados políticos e ideológicos que influyeron en su concepción y en su constitución como obra. El trazado preliminar de los aspectos históricos e institucionales de esta perspectiva es materia de un proyecto que se encuentra actualmente en desarrollo.

En lo concerniente al campo de la teoría arquitectónica, el presente proyecto focaliza su atención en las estructuras de significación, en cuanto ellas corresponden a enunciados y discursos que se expresan, representados socio culturalmente, en la obra arquitectónica, constituyéndola, por tanto, como un texto referido a la realidad. La hipótesis afirma que, en el decenio considerado, la representación social de significados constituidos como “estetización” de contenidos político-ideológicos gubernamentales, se expresan como relato subyacente en el texto arquitectónico y urbanístico de la labor habitacional de CORMU. Más específicamente la hipótesis sostiene que a través de sus principales proyectos, CORMU desarrolla una suerte de “artialización” arquitectónico-urbanística, que se constituye como un género, reconocible por su carácter “épico” y su rol de imagen anticipatoria, en el marco de la construcción del espacio correlativo de una nueva era de cambio y transformación de la sociedad. Se espera constituir tal lectura crítica mediante una estrategia de combinaciones conceptuales e instrumentales transdisciplinarias, extraídas de la esfera hermenéutico-lingüística. El presente proyecto espera adaptar y someter a prueba tal instrumental para considerar la legibilidad del texto arquitectónico, especialmente en sus significados político-ideológicos, propios del contexto discursivo histórico e institucional de la época.

The aim of the current project is an approaching from a subject formulated in the field of the Architectural history 1 , to another constituted in the field of the Architectural theory. The investigation seeks to establish the general guidelines of an explorative programme of architectonic critique, wich stems from an analysis exercise of the present meanings, as a social representation, in a particular architectonic piece, considered as an object of study for this purposes.

In the historic subject, it is pursued the examination of the architecture and the inhabitantial urbanistic developed by the Corporación de Mejoramiento Urbano, CORMU (Urban Improvement Corporation), in the city of Santiago between 1966 and 1976. In order to achieve this objectives, it is assumed a perspective that looks for the revealment of the political and ideological meanings wich influenced it conception and constitution as a piece of work. The preliminar outlines of the historic and institutional aspects of this perspective are object of study of another project currently in progress.

As far as the field of the architectonic theory is concerned, the current project focuses on meaning structures, as for they belong to statements and discourses wich are expressed, sociocultural represented, in the architectonic work, therefore, constituting it as a reality-related paper. The hypothesis state, in the considered decade, that the social representation of meanings constituted as “aestheticization” of governmental ideological-political contents , are expressed as an underlying description in the architectonic and urbanistic paper of the inhabitantial task of CORMU. In a more specific way the hypothesis states that through it main projects, CORMU develops some kind of urbanistic-architectonical “artialisation”, which constitutes itself as a gender, recognoscible because of it “epical” nature and it anticipatory image role, in the correlative space construction framework of a new time of change and society transformation. It is hoped the constitution of such critical observation by means of a conceptual and transdiciplinary instrumental combinations strategy, extracted from the linguistic-hermeneuthical sphere. Such instrumental is espected to be adapted and tested for the current project in order to consider the architectonic text understanding, specially in it politic-ideologycal meanings, characteristic in the institutional and historic discoursive context of the time.
