RESUMEN

Los comienzos de la década de 1930 en Santiago muestran importantes transformaciones en las relaciones sociales las que generaron, a su vez, grandes cambios en el concepto de espacio público. Este proyecto de investigación estudiará el proceso de transformación del área central de la ciudad con la construcción de nuevos artefactos: pasajes y galerías. Estos nuevos elementos urbanos se incorporan a la esfera colectiva a través de operaciones integradoras en esta parte de la ciudad.

Al mismo tiempo, se pretende establecer una reflexión crítica acerca del proceso de producción de estos artefactos, al igual que sus relaciones con la producción social en relación con nuevas consideraciones urbanas, económicas, sociales y medio ambientales. Estas huellas del paso del tiempo dan cuenta de la capacidad de la ciudad de ir construyendo su pasado como historia y no como mero residuo.

 

ABSTRACT

Beginning in the 1930's there were important transformations in social relations that generated, in turn, notorious changes in the public space concept in Santiago . At the same time the project study the processes that have transformed the central area of the city with the construction of new spaces: passages and galleries. These new urban elements were incorporated into the collective sphere, integrated through actions that create a whole in this part of the city.

The project attempts to establish a critical reflection about the process of production of these urban pieces. It will also explore this relationship with the social phenomena in agreement with new urban, economic, social and environmental considerations. These footprints of time record the city's ability to construct its parts as history, not as simple remains.
